一、教學目標：基地分析（site analysis）為傳統環境設計相關學門的基礎訓練，其強調以科學的方法（自然科學分析與社會調查）對基地進行資料蒐集、分析（setting），研擬課題，用以解決問題或者發展地方。敘事空間（secnography）學門，在美國之外的國家，指的是劇場相關設計，在有限的時間內展現敘事（劇場、燈光、舞台等）所需要的空間裝備，可以說是一種實用性的裝置藝術。但在美國快速且極度商業化的社會下，敘事空間逐漸變成一種專業的空間設計人員，以便在非常短的時間呈現跨領域（劇場空間、展示空間、商業空間）的合作結果。按照英國Pamela Howard在What is Scenography?一書的說法：敘事空間是視覺化空間背後的故事，敘事空間者（scenographer）必須是個藝術家，可以理解導演想法與導演合作，且像作者一樣理解文本，同時也必須對呈現於觀眾前的表演非常敏感，創造一個適合的與富有想像力的空間生產。本課程嘗試將兩種方法結合，學生將透過實際的基地調查與分析，將分析的結果視為空間的文本，期末時以各種形式（文字、影像、攝影、劇場表演、舞蹈等等）再現此空間。

三、實施方法：專題講座、案例分析、校外參訪與調查
四、評量方式：平時課堂參與25％，課堂報告40％，期末報告35%。修課同學選擇本學期的研究基地，修課同學每週於課堂報告基地資料與分析結果，期末則研究與發展適合的再現形式，於期末展覽中呈現（暫定在搗蛋藝術基地），並繳交（8000字）的分析與成果報告。由於此課具有准實習課的特性，需要花時間在田野調查與分析資料，且需具備基礎的空間/環境知識，鼓勵修課同學盡量與本校各相關系所尋求協助與諮詢（如地理系、環教系等）。
